The County of Lake Human Resources Department is committed to providing a diverse and inclusive workforce. HR has taken measures to ensure D&I is a top priority.

  1. Diversity
  2. Equity
  3. Inclusion

“Diversity” means more than just acknowledging and/or tolerating difference. It is about understanding that each individual is unique. Our unique qualities can be along the dimensions of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, age, physical abilities, religious beliefs, political beliefs, or other ideologies. It is the exploration of these differences in a safe, positive, and nurturing environment. Diversity is about understanding each other and moving beyond simple tolerance to embracing and celebrating the rich dimensions of diversity contained within each individual.

“Diversity is not about how we differ. Diversity is about embracing one another’s uniqueness.” -Ola Joseph

The County of Lake utilizes diverse avenues to advertise open opportunities. Our outreach efforts to attract a diverse applicant pool include attending career fairs and conferences at local schools, universities, and non-profit organizations. With the creation of the recruitment and selection process, hiring managers can learn how to effectively select a diverse panel for application screenings and interviews as well as the importance of diversity in the workplace. During the interview process, we included questions directly related to D&I and equity.
