By resolution, the Lake County Board of Supervisors has created the Geothermal Advisory Committee. The Committee’s purpose is to facilitate and foster direct communication between the community and geothermal operators at The Geysers and identify adverse impacts to those communities and consider funding requests. The Committee will review requests and recommend to the Board of Supervisors the programs and/or projects to be funded. The Board of Supervisors will make the final decision on the funding requests. The source of this funding is the geothermal resource royalties (AB 1905 funds). The Special Districts Administrator of the County of Lake administers this committee and membership includes the respective member of the Board of Supervisors from District 1 and District 5, residents of each community, representatives of local public agencies, representatives of the geothermal industry, and the Special Districts Administrator.
