Chemical Additives & Treatments

Be cautious of chemicals and additives (including soaps, enzymes, and detergents) that claim to dissolve grease. Most of these additives simply pass grease down pipes where it can clog the sewer lines in another area. Besides being expensive for the facility, they increase operation and maintenance costs for the District which causes higher sewer bills for customers. Special District discourages and, in some cases, prohibits the use of additives, enzymes, and treatments.
